Private, owner-operated backup utility

Encrypted homelab backups to Google Drive.

Homelab Rclone Backup is a personal backup setup that uses rclone and the Google Drive API to store encrypted backup archives in the owner's own Google Drive account. It is not a public backup service and does not accept customer registrations.

How the app works

1. Create a backup

The owner generates backup archives on their own homelab equipment.

2. Encrypt locally

rclone crypt encrypts file contents and names before uploads.

3. Store in Google Drive

OAuth grants the application access to files created or opened with the application using the drive.file scope.

4. Restore when needed

The owner can retrieve and decrypt backups with their separately retained encryption credentials.

Google Drive permissions

The app requests the Google Drive drive.file scope for backup uploads, listing, downloading, and managing files accessible to this app. It does not request blanket access to all existing Google Drive files.
